Team balloting to begin for first annual All-Star game

ROLLINSFORD -- The Dover Co-Ed Softball League's first annual All-Star game will feature some of the best players on the league's 11 teams playing against one another in what should be a memorable day at GoldStar Park.
League officials are asking teams to select three players, two guys and one female, player and forward their selections via e-mail to Bob Cook, manager of The Beacons, by Friday, July 18, at 6 p.m.
Cook suggests the best way for teams to select players would be by secret ballot that can be conducted by paper or e-mail. Each player should be given a list of each team's male players and female players. They will then be asked to pick two men and one woman by ballot. The team's coach will then count up the results to determine who will represent their team in the All-Star game. The exact date and time of the contest has yet to be determined and league officials may announce a date after they hold their regularly scheduled meeting on July 14 at the American Legion Hall.
Each team should forward their ballot results to Bob Cook at
robert.cook26@comcast.net. and Cook will then send out a league-wide e-mail announcing the rosters for the two All-Star teams a week prior to the scheduled game.

The two All-Star teams are as follows:
Team Group A will consist of players from Station House, TJ's, Moore Construction, Shirts Happen, Post 47 and P. Hussey.

Team Group B will be made up of players from Chumley's, Merrill's Radiator, Access, Varney's Cleaners, and The Beacons.

Each should have no less than 10 men and five women, but those numbers could fluctuate depending on each team's balloting process. Access, which was slotted to be in Team Group B, has since dropped out of the league, which means Team Group B could have three less players than Team Group A.
