Navy Yard perfect, but just barely...

ROLLINSFORD -- Navy Yard, A.K.A. TJ's, maintained their status as the only undefeated team in the Dover Co-Ed Softball League by scoring one more run to defeat Merrill's Radiator Friday night.
The final score was 18-17, but the contest could have gone either way on what was an absolutely, picture perfect night for co-ed softball at GoldStar Park on the banks of the Salmon Falls River.
Navy Yard player Karen Tuttle proved to be the heroine who rescued her teammates with a towering triple that knocked in two runs to go with her two other hits.
The game see-sawed through six innings with both teams scoring runs, taking the lead only to see the other regain the lead. In the end, Navy Yard needed to flash some good gloves in the 7th inning to preserve a tenuous one-run lead and somehow they did to improve to 8-0 nearly halfway through the 2008 season.
But a tip of the hat definitely goes to Tom Ferland's Merrill's Radiator squad. They battled Navy Yard every pitch of the way before Navy Yard eventually triumphed in the final frame.
